I’ve always been jealous of people who’ve had it all figured out.

When you finally finish your schooling, you’re supposed to know what you want to study in college. But I didn’t know. I was clueless, so I went to study journalism. It is one of the failures of my life which I don’t admit to people. I quit after one semester.

I admit I rushed into it. All my classmates had their futures planned. They were already studying for entrance exams. Some of them were even sure about which college they wanted to go to.

I got the offer to do a BA in English from an excellent college, but I turned it down because I was adamant about studying journalism. It wasn’t because I was too eager to become a journalist. I didn’t want to study English because almost everyone was going for courses like Engineering, Law, Fashion Design and Hotel Management. It just made me feel a little less.

I’m glad it didn’t work out because I got to spend the next six months taking a break. Those six months helped me focus on myself and realise what I want. I also took a solo trip to Jaipur, which was so empowering and grounding.
